The Daunting Craft Corner

I am the self-proclaimed queen of unfinished craft projects. I have an entire corner of my apartment dedicated to sewing and crafts. The problem is I have a tendancy to start something and never finish it. At first I thought that this was a hereditary trait.

At some point when my parents were moving my mother cleaned out her sewing room and gave away some the stuff she had. Among what I took from her were a few projects that she had started and never finished. However, upon further reflection, I realized that Mom's issue was time. Although there were some things that were unfinished, I don't think I could even count the number of things that she did finish.

So where does that leave me? In the procrastination catagory, I think. I also sometimes get bored with a project and set it aside. I did manage to make some hats and scarves last year that I gave away, but that is only a portion of what is waiting for me in the corner of the dining room.

So that brings me to the purpose of this blog. You see, more than just the craft projects that haunt my passage from the living room to the kitchen, is the biggest "unfinished project" I have: ME. I started a journey last summer to get heathier and lose some weight. I managed to lose 25 pounds before November. All through November and December I maintained my weight and was feeling pretty good about that. Then somewhere between Christmas and now, I started gaining it back. I have a feeling I know what the culprits are, but doing something about them feels like a major project.

So now begins my attempt to be more self-disciplined, manage my time and health better, and maybe finish a project now and then.
